American River Confluence to Lake Clementine

Weekend morning hikes are starting to become a bit of a habit around here. I guess there are worse things, like eating half a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, than having Abby wake me up at the crack of dawn to go on an adventure. A couple of weekends ago we put on our running shoes and hit the American River Confluence trail for a quick six mile round trip to Lake Clementine.

On the hike up to Lake Clementine you follow the American River and go under the Foresthill Bridge which is the tallest bridge in California and the fourth tallest in the US.

The downside to this hike is that Lake Clementine is not dog friendly. Talk about a bummer.
